Allison Rainboth was born and raised in Southern California. She learned to sew from the friendly ladies at the local Singer store when she was 10. The first quilt she remembers making was a Trip Around the World for her brother’s first apartment. It was in solids, chocolate brown, navy blue, cream and rust…in pant-weight cotton kettle-cloth which was the only solid cotton she could find. It was so heavy it probably squashed her brother, but he was never cold!
In 1992 she moved with her husband to Berlin, WI where she is the owner of Sisters Choice Quilting Service. She has been quilting since the mid-1980s and longarm quilting for others since 2003. People in her small town brought quilts and fabrics to show her and she became fascinated with quilt history, old fabrics, old quilts, and the people who made them. She has a collection of “working girls,” battered beauties which she shares at lectures and presentations.
Allison is an NACQJ Certified Quilt Judge and also an AQS Certified Appraiser of Quilts and Quilted Textiles. She will also offer Professional Quilt Appraisal services at the Show by appointment only.
